Have you ever thought about your mother’s life or ways or some of the interesting things about her? My mother passed away years go. I still find myself thinking about her and some of the things she did and said that remain deep in my heart.
My mother used to ask me if she could help with some of my ‘paperwork.’ She said she could file for me or record things, etc. Although I worked in an office, I sometimes brought work home (and I frequently spent time with my mother). She once said that she remembered shorthand and asked me to tell her something to write. At this time, she was in her late seventies. In all honesty, I did question how much shorthand she might have remembered, but she kept insisting I ask her something to write. So, I finally said, ‘I am going to the store.’ She scribbled something very fast, and I questioned her knowledge more so. She told me I could check it out, which I did. When I went back to work, I asked two people who had taken shorthand if they knew what was written. They both said no and that it had been a long time since they had taken shorthand. Mind you, these ladies were younger than forty. I finally asked a supervisor of clerical workers to look at what was written, and she said, ‘I am going to the store.’ Enough said, that’s my mama. After all those years, she was on the ball. I love you mama. Happy Mother’s Day!!!!!!!!!!
