Dear Heart, I try to reflect upon good things, but to learn and grow in life as well as spiritually, we have to look at the past and the present. We also have to learn from others. I say that now especially because I recently reflected upon a particular lady who had a few children. The woman never felt loved by her mother, so when she did have children, she seemed to care about them only. She and her children lived with her mother and stepfather and when hard times came, she cared only about feeding her children, regardless if no food–which was paid for by her parents–was left for others. There are other similar instances I can express, but it hurts me to think about them and I feel bad about saying these things even though I m not judging the woman. The purpose of saying these things is to say that we must teach and guide our children, founded in principles of love and concern for others. The woman’s children did not care not least about her when they got grown. They moved in and out of her house and never paid one bill even though she needed help. She eventually wound up hating her children, which she expressed clearly. Her children were never taught ‘sharing and caring,’ and she, unfortunately reaped what she sowed. So tragic is her life story. We need to learn the importance of God’s principles and teachings. God says, ‘train your children in the way that they should go.’ It does not mean that every single child will go down the righteous path, but many will and the teachings can and have brought some children back to the path of righteousness. I pray all parents will teach their children and raise them in a home that loves and worships God Almighty and His Son, Jesus.
