Have you ever had someone to put you out? Have you ever heard the words, ‘Get Out.’ It is very painful to hear and fearful when you do not have anywhere else to go. That is why I say, process, exclaim, encourage, and/or beg people, especially women, to be independent. Have a place of your own—with your name on the lease or mortgage. Have and maintain a life of relative independence: have something of your own. Put away something for a rainy day that only you know about. Always embrace opportunities to better yourself, learn more, get more education, seek better job opportunities. Never just settle in life for one day, you might be faced with asking yourself, ‘Why didn’t I do this or that’? Why didn’t I get a better education’? Why didn’t I put some money aside’? How did I ever find myself in this position’? Many homeless people on the streets and in shelters have probably asked similar questions. Don’t let time keep passing without analyzing your needs to be relatively independent.
